Finally, the world around us is beginning to open, the weather is warming up and things are starting to feel ‘normal’ again. Your summer may look a little different than it has in years past but it doesn't mean you can’t make the most of what we have left. While most of us have spent the past 3-months cooped up inside, it may feel overwhelming to be finally getting out and about again. Below we have included some important wellness tips for your post-quarantine care.

  • Skincare

Firstly, be kind to your skin! Many of us have kept ourselves out of harmful UV rays while spending more time indoors. When venturing outdoors, make sure you apply plenty of SPF (above 30+ is recommended) and wear a hat to help your skin adjust. When spas do reopen you should ease into skincare facial services, it’s been a while since your last professional facial service, so you may be tempted to try everything at once but being too aggressive with your professional services can do more harm than good. Your first facial appointment should include a thorough exfoliation to remove any build up of dead skin cells, extractions to remove any impurities in the pores and hydration. Our HydraFacial service offers these three things and is a fantastic service to start with to give your skin a much needed boost.

  • Give Your Body an Immune-Boost

If you haven’t already been taking steps to boost your immune system, your nutrition is a good place to start. Ensuring you have a vitamin-rich diet can help protect your body and defend against pathogens. Most importantly, make sure you are getting generous amounts of Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Zinc.

  • Make Your Skin Glow

All the time indoors can leave your skin dry and dull. A thorough full body exfoliation is key to having smooth, glowing skin for your next beach outing. Try our Lavender and Seaweed Sugar Glow body scrub that offers exfoliation from head-to-toe.

  • Tame Your Mane

Quarantine has likely left you with 2-inch long regrowth and grown out haircuts so one of your top priorities may be a trip to the hair salon. Our friends at Bella Bethesda Salon, in downtown Bethesda have reopened their salon with enhanced safety measures for all their guests. At your next hair appointment why not take advantage of a new beginning with an updated look. A new haircut or style can instantly boost your mood, freshen your look and get you ready for summer.

  • Reschedule Any Missed Appointments

If you’ve missed any important routine appointments, like a dentist visit, eye doctor or even a physical, consider rescheduling as soon as possible. In-person visits are important for your overall well-being and will give you peace of mind, knowing that your health is in check.

  • Enjoy The Outdoors

After all the months spent indoors, it’s now time to enjoy the sunshine and head to the great outdoors. Spending time outdoors, especially in green spaces, is one of the fastest ways to improve your health and happiness. It's been shown to lower stress, blood pressure and heart rate, while encouraging physical activity and improving mood and mental health. There are some wonderful hiking trails right here in our backyard in Montgomery County - Explore local hiking trails here. If you’re looking for more thrill-seeking adventures why not try some exciting new outdoor activities with the family like Kayaking or an Outdoors ropes course - Explore outdoor activities here.

  • Apply A Fresh Coat of Paint

Lastly, summer dresses and sandals aren’t quite complete without a summer mani and pedi to pair with. If your feet are anything like mine, they’ve been seriously neglected for the past few months and need a good scrubbing and filing. In addition to offering some much-needed pampering, nail services offer additional benefits like increased blood circulation, improved skin appearance and reduction of dry skin. Constant washing of hands and using harsh sanitizers may have left your skin dry, cracked and damaged when returning to the spa opt for a hydrating lotion or warm paraffin enhancement for deep hydration and nourishment.
